When it comes to home security, you don’t want to take any chances; it’s the reason we don’t leave any windows open when we nip out and keep valuables out of site when possible.
One of the biggest advancements in home security in recent years is the use of UPVC doors and windows, which are much more secure than older wooden doors and windows. But why are they so much better?
The locking mechanisms coupled with a more durable material (vinyl) that doesn’t splinter results in UPVC doors and windows being incredibly more secure than their counterparts. This coupled with the use of chrome UPVC door handles make these doors incredibly secure; with the complex locking system used in them making breaking or picking the lock extremely difficult. Combine UPVC door handles with sash jammers and you are looking at turning your property into a fortress.
But UPVC doors aren’t just better in terms of security. They’re better across the board. Whilst being durable is excellent for security, it also means that UPVC doors aren’t susceptible to weathering or termite damage like wooden doors are. Also, being made of vinyl means that UPVC requires very little maintenance, with just the odd wipe down sufficing to keep it looking fresh and clean – an added bonus.
UPVC doors are also incredibly lightweight, without compromising on security. This means that using UPVC doors every day is an extremely easy affair, regardless of age, size or strength. As well as this, UPVC is recyclable, so if you ever get to the stage where you want to replace you door, you don’t need to worry about the impact that this may have on the environment as the material can be reused and remolded following decommissioning.
